How To Talk To God

This is a praying guide written by Ren Xi and edited by Jerome. Feel free to ask any question if you have one:
Why Pray To Who-He-Knows-Everything
Personally, praying is talking to God, telling Him what you want to tell Him. Though God knows everything about us but He wants us to talk to Him. This is because He wants us to realise that we need Him in our life. It is just like your love one know that you love him/her, yet it is important to say "i love you" out orally.

Matthew 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

A Guideline To Pray

Beginning: We can start our prayer with Our Father in heaven, our heavenly Father, dear Jesus, Abba Father. It is like we want to call out for someone before we start praying. Just like we will call "Mum" or "Dad" before we want to speak up.

Middle:
  1. Thanksgiving - Give thanks to God, thank You for bringing me here or thank You for gathering us here or thank You for today.
  2. Confession - Confess my sin. Sometimes we sin without our realisation. Ask for forgiveness and also forgive people who sin against us as He command.
  3. Praise - Praise the God: God You are great, everything is in Your control (Optional, you may praise God with your prayer request).
  4. Chatting - Telling God how is your day, what are the things you have gone through and how you feel, chatting with God. He is like a father, best friend, listener to us besides God.
  5. Surrender - Talk to God about the thing you concern. You may pray for others, family and friends. Must learn to surrender everything onto God after pray. We do what we can do and let God does the rest.
Ending: You can end with "in Jesus' name we pray, Amen".

What Should i Do To Accept Christ

For those who are not christian and wish to accept Christ but don't know how, you may read this Sinner's prayer once and approach us or any christian to know more about christian:

Sinner Prayer (taken from http://www.sinner-prayer.com/)
"Father, i know that i have broken Your laws and my sins have separated me from You. i am truly sorry, and now i want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. i believe that Your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive and hears my prayer. i invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name i pray, Amen."

Examples of prayers

Prayer For Food
"Dear heavenly Father, thank You for today, thank You for gather us here today for this time (if there are others). God, i want to pray for the food, thank You for the food that You had prepared for us. Bless the hands that prepared this meal and blessed this food into our body, will help us to stay healthy and strong. In Jesus's name i pray, Amen."

Prayer For Family
"Dear Lord, i thank You for Your grace that had saved me and cleanse all my sin. i want to uphold all my family especially those who hasn't heard about You or heard about You but ignore You. Lord, please use me as Your living testimony in my family so that they may see the changes in me and see You in me. Use me as a tool in my family. Give me the wisdom and courage to share Your gospel with them. Lord, please soften their heart to listen and to come to know You and Lord, i pray that one day they will come to acknowledge You as their personal saviour. Lord, i also want to pray for myself. Please strengthen me and comfort my heart. Help me to forgive them. i know sometimes what they say will hurt and make me doubt with my own faith. Lord, please help me to stand firm in You and help me to go through all the difficulties and persecution that i will faced. Please send Your Holy Spirit to guide me. Lord, i pray that You will send Your Angel to protect my family. Pray that they will live healthily In Jesus' name i pray, Amen."

Pray For Own Self
"Dear Abba Father, i know i am not a good person and always sin. But Lord, Your mercy is always shown to me and love me even i have sin against You. i pray for my study. please help me, give me wisdom and knowledge in my study, help me to concentrate in class and help me to have a good communication with my lecturers. Lord, please help me to love others as You had loved me. i know i can't love everyone like You do. Sometimes it is hard for me to love someone but Lord, please help me to love those i find hard to love. Lord, please help me to seek Your will in my life. Help me to be able to listen to You and obey to Your words. Help me to humble myself and serve others. In Jesus' name i pray, Amen."

Another really good example of prayer is the Lord's Prayer.

The New Look Of Kuala Terengganu

For those who hasn't know (especially my ex-university's mates), the local government has actually "changed" the view of China Town. It is located right behind our KT China Town. One of my friend named it as "Ice-cream world" since the "light trees" look exactly like ice-cream from a distance!

"Ice-Cream World" from across the river.

Bridge that links to "Ice-cream World".

Our friend - Shawn with the "Ice-cream".

The view of the river with our friend inside - Da Da.

I think it is nice that least there are some works that have been done to make Kt to have a new look! Feel free to go have an experience there by yourself. It is really romantic as there are old couples walking around there and chatting around =)

Visitation to Rumah Damai

CF has organized a visitation to Rumah Damai (KT) to express our love towards the elders and to share God's love with them. More than 30 CF members attend the trip. Together we sang song, danced, played games and made Tang Yuan with the elders.

Group Photo of our CF Members and Most-Respect-Elders.

Together Making Tang Yuan with the old folks.

Serving lunch to the old folks.

One of the grandma nearly cried when we were wishing her and talking to her. It is a very touching scene.
Just wondering what will i feel if i was the one got "placed" in an old folk's home. May God hears our prayers and reminds these "kids" about their parents.

Gossip Kitchen (KT)

The first time i really stepped in Gossip Kitchen (Kuala Terengganu) is in 2012! Unbelievable! i should have attend this very nice restaurant like 2 years ago. i should have try out myself rather than listen to others' comment.
Let me introduced the food first. The main food set available here included :

a) Spaghetti - Decorated in a simple manner, tastes really nice, available in vege-only also.
b) Fried Rice - Various types, strongly recommend - Gong Bao fried rice. Thai & Gossip Signature fried rice is nice also (i dislike due to the chili).
c) Western Food (Chop) - Many friends like it as in quantity & quality. i love the fries a lot!
 (a) Grilled Chicken Chop

(b) Fried Chicken Chop

(c) Fish & Chips

i would rate this restaurant a 7.5/10 for the overall food and environment :)

"Self Quiet Time" for UMT Students

I would like to encourage those who are and will be studying far away from hometown not to absent from attending temple, mosque, church according to your own religion respectively. This is important in your soul searching and helping in living out the purpose of life.

For me, i am a christian and have been attending Jelutong Methodist Chinese Church (JCMC) based Penang for 20 years since i am born. i have then come to Terengganu to continue my study life in university and have been living here for 4 years. It is a test of faith and i failed it in the beginning of my study life. However, life is full with surprises. Through attending a Christian Fellowship (CF) here, it helps to re-open my eyes and go back to the path of seeking the purpose that God plants in my life.

i personally think that religion is important in helping one to motivate himself/herself or to seek for his/her purpose of life. Losing in the path of faith has turned me into a so selfish, ego and realistic monster. A song to share here is "Slip Away" sang by Andy Lau. Personally, it helps in reminding self to feedback onto my past life ("look into the mirror") and not to repeat the mistake did in the past.

Here are a few guidelines for Christians that come to study in Terengganu. There are churches that are available in Kuala Terengganu :

a) Air Jernih Presbyterian Church (AJPC) <English : Friday 9-11am>
b) Chinese Presbyterian Church <Chinese : Friday 9-11am>
c) St. Andrew Church <English : Friday 9-11am>
d) Assembly Of God (AOG) <Chinese : Thursday 8-10pm || English : Friday 9-11am>
e) Kuala Terengganu Baptist Church <English : Friday 9-11am>
f) Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Metro
g) Catolic Church <Friday 10am>
h) Latter Rain Church
i) New Life Church <Friday 11am>

These are just some of the churches available here. There are still lot more if you wish to know. Transportation are provided for all those who need. What you need is just to ask :-) You may contact me if you wish to know more details, location of the church (014-9215998). Remember, you are not alone! Feel free to attend for CF as well.

Also, for Buddhists that come study here, there are chinese temples available here as well :

a) Ho Ann Keng Temple - located at Kampung Cina.
b) Tian Hou Chinese Temple - located at Kampung Cina.
c) Shui Yue Gong Temple - Located at Kampung Pulai Baharu, nearest to UMT.

i found this website as i browsed through web for more temples - http://my.72dragon.com/?p=2968 . i think it is a page for those who wish to know more about Chinese Temples. i like the way the writer catalogs up all the Chinese Temples in Malaysia. There is Buddhist society club available here as well. Feel free to attend all the events organized!

For those who believe in Islam, i believe you can find a mosque easily here. There are a lot of mosques around this area. For Hindus, as far as i know, there is only one available Hindu Temple here:

a) Sri Kali Yuga Durga Lakshmi Aman Temple - located in Kuala Terengganu.

Anyone who wish to have any religion-perspective-changing kindly talk to me. i really love to know more about other religions. It is knowledge that is so precious and i believe everyone has his/her own stories behind. Sharing is Caring!

(Please do correct me if i made any mistake for the temples/churches introducing. Sorry for the mistake made.)

Yesterday, Today, Tommorrow

This is a poem i wrote 2 years ago. It is to express my own regretting towards my mistake i made in 2009. i didn't make it to see my granny even till the moment she got buried. Even though my parents think it is nothing to scold/blame for, i personally take it seriously and deep inside my heart, i know deeply inside my heart it is my fault.

The title of the poem is "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow".

If i could, i want to change my yesterday.
Listening to my heart, touching it, feeling it, every single part of it.
Begging for a new yesterday, waving for a better tomorrow, wishing for an ending today.
May yesterday change my today, my tomorrow.
No more sorrows shall be felt, no more regrets on the path.

i know, i know, still,
deep beneath the seven pounds, it suppresses i, yells at i,
"You! You! What hath you done!?"
Wondering in the mind,
"Who am i? Or... What am i?"
The yesterday seems far away, the today seems never end,
when will tomorrow come?"

Letting go, too easy to define, yet too hard to try.
What are you? Foe or Friend?
May yesterday came so You no longer needed.
May today end so You'll wave goodbye.
May tomorrow come so You'll be history.
